Cali Trip: Part One

Last week Scott and I were soooo lucky to take an awesome trip to California!

We left super early Tuesday morning and got to my grandparents cabin in Truckee, CA around 1 in the afternoon. I basically grew up in the little ski town of Truckee. We moved into the very same cabin my grandparents have today when I was only a few months old. We lived there while my dad went to graduate school at UNR.
It is one of my favorite places in the whole world! It is so full of memories.
Truckee is only about a half hour from beautiful Lake Tahoe (which is another one of my favorite places). Scott had been to neither and I had too much fun showing him around!
Isn't it the cutest little cabin you ever did see! It is just as amazing on the inside!

Emerald Bay might be my favorite part of Lake Tahoe

After our little day in Tahoe, we headed west towards the ocean.
We stopped in Sacramento for a few hours so Scott could do some work stuff. Then we went to Los Altos to meet up with my grandparents, my aunt and uncle and my cute little cousins.
We all went out to dinner together and it was great.

We stayed at my grandparents other home on the beach in Pacifica.

We went on a beautiful walk along the beach and up the cliffs every morning with my grandma. I could really get used to that.

Thursday might have been my favorite day of our trip.
Scott and I spent the whole day exploring San Francisco.
It made it that much more fun that Scott had never been there. I got to show him everything!
We took BART into the city, explored Union Square and then had lunch on top of Macy's at the Cheesecake Factory (this is a must do. great food and a great view)

Then we rode the Cable Car. This was so fun!

I wore my fun sneakers to walk around the city :)

I about died with all the beautiful flowers blooming everywhere! Utah needs to pick up the pace.
From the Trolley stop we walked the Embarcadero over to Pier 39.

Can you see Alcatraz Island in the background?
We stopped and watched the seals for a bit. It's tradition. You can't not stop.

Next was Ghirardelli Square. It's a cool place and all, but it's the chocolate that makes it a must-do in the City.
We took the Cable Car back into the heart of the city, did a little shopping (hubby is a trooper) and then took the BART back to my grandparents place.

The fun to be continued....
