Healthy Homemade Granola Bars

OK guys, these are DELICIOUS! and pretty darn healthy too!! Win Win.
As I've mentioned before, I've eliminated sweets from my diet (minus Easter- it's just not Easter without a cadbury egg). It really isn't that bad and I crave sweets less and less. But every once and awhile you just need a little something to satisfy your sweet tooth. So late one night last week I took a few ingredients we had and tried to create something that could feed my sweets craving. This is what came from my experimentation and I think they're really good... the hubster does too:) perfect for lunch packing!

These are packed with good stuff for you!
//the oats and whole wheat flour give you lots of protein and fiber
//the bananas add vitamin A and potassium
//and the chocolate gives you a smile :)

You can really get fun with this recipe! You could make them cookies instead of bars; add raisins, nuts or peanut butter; or even some white chocolate chips and dried cranberries (oooh).

Homemade Granola Bars

Ingredients:
+3 Cups Quick Oats
+3 ripe bananas (they don't have to be really ripe, I used some that were just starting to darken)
+1/2 Cup whole wheat flour
+3/4 tsp baking powder
+1/3 Cup brown sugar
+1 tsp cinnamon
+Toppings as wanted

Directions:
1. mash the bananas with the oats until smooth (using a fork is easiest)
2. mix in brown sugar
3. mix together flour, baking powder and cinnamon then add them to the banana and sugar mixture
4. mix in any adding toppings- chocolate chips, fruit or nuts. Or you can spread them on top like I did.
5.On a cooking sprayed sheet, shape the dough into bars, cookies or any shape you like!
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes
7. Let cool for a few minutes or eat warm:)

Make sure to store them in a sealed container! They will dry out.

I wanted my bars chocolate covered so I just laid out the chocolate chips on top before cooking and then spread the melted chocolate as soon as they came out of the oven. It was the perfect amount of chocolate:)

Mmmmmmmmmmm Enjoy!
