Not Just Another Good Book

Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza is so much more than a story; it is the written transformation of a soul. This book took my breath away. The word that best describes this deep and humbling tale would have to be inspiring. Every time I read I wanted to be a better person and what more could you ask for from a book?
I recommend this book to anyone who is mature enough to handle the brutality and gruesomeness of ethnic cleansing. If you want to read Left to Tell it is vital that you look past the written words and see deeper into the lessons that Immaculee Ilibagiza is trying to share. Immaculee’s story changed my perspective on life in so many ways. I was deeply humbled by the great faith and fervor of this great young woman. Immaculee was able to find happiness, peace and forgiveness while living through evil. Reading her thoughts made me re-evaluate myself and change my way of thinking. I live life with greater gratitude in everyday things. Left to Tell has also sparked an interest in current ethnic cleansings around the world and what I can do to help. This book is truly motivational; though horror and terror are prevalent, the focus of this book is the power in finding God. Even though Immaculee Ilibagiza is not of my faith, I felt the power of my Heavenly Father in every sentence I read. This heartrending, inspirational narrative cannot do you wrong; read it!
